Experiences, not RIE or RIA
I will have to chime in on Ethan’s post about using the acronym RIE instead of RIA. Ethan’s insight is spot on, but why replace a geek driven acronym with another geeky acronym. Let’s just go back to describing what we create/ consume as “Experiences“. And not worry about communicating whether it’s a desktop or internet experience. They are all “experiences”. So lets keep it simple.

in todays world Desktop or Web still does metter a lot and there is big big gap
, sounds like some software name Microsoft would come up
Experiences even tell me less then RIE or RIA
but it doesn’t metter if we talk about all this - it’s fun and brending is popular
we should make some polls and vote for ultimate acronym or word for “lot of fun on the web”

Thanks for your response, Mr Steel. I do understand the issues you raise. But I think you missed my point entirely. I think that we should be less worried about isolating what acronym to use and worry more about creating great experiences that blur the lines between a desktop application and a web application. I know my mother could care less whether she was interacting with a RIA or a desktop experience. As long as it just works.
Acronyms are for industry geeks.
