TweenMax (AS3) & Flex 3

Monday, April 7th, 2008

As of late, I have been prototyping my designs in Flex3/ AIR and have found TweenLite a valuable tweening engine. And on April 5th, Jack Doyle released a new version called TweenMax. If you are ‘hackalicious’ like myself. I have found this to be a must have tweening engine, whether it be authoring in Flash and or Flex/AIR.

Thanks Jack Doyle!

Opposable Thumb, Opposable Mind = Innovation

It’s not very often that I read the Harvard Business Review, but this article really caught my attention. It’s titled, “How Successful Leaders Think”. The article suggests that we should examine what goes on in a successful leader’s mind —particularly the way they creatively build on the tensions among conflicting ideas.

This practice of balancing two competing ideas and drawing a third conclusion is the heart of design. And what most designers face on a daily basis. Whether it’s balancing between the following:

1. Business goals & Experience objectives
2. Experience objectives & Engineering objectives
3. Engineering objectives & Customer expectations

etc….

Anyways… I am rambling now. Go have a read.

Lineup

Thought I would pass along that the Exchange Calendar Viewer that I designed for Christian Cantrell has been posted. You can read more about it here. OR you can watch a video that Christian put together. It’s a bit rough around the edges (a.k.a the ‘Detail View’). That said… it should provide a good basis for people to learn from and extend. Either way go check it out.

The complete source code for Lineup itself is also available on Google Code, or you can simply click on the badge below to install it.
