I wonder why Johnny Knoxville was carrying a “Grenade”…

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

“Authorities detained Johnny Knoxville on Thursday for allegedly bringing an inert grenade into Los Angeles International Airport. After security screeners spotted the grenade in the “Jackass” star’s carry-on luggage, a bomb squad determined it lacked a firing pin or explosive. Police say Knoxville was later released and allowed to board an American Airlines flight to Miami.”

This raises so many questions in my mind. But I will not comment on why I think he was carrying a grenade. I will say that I may know the reason and I will reveal what I know in March. I think March will start off as a “lamb” and end as a “lion”.

AIRmikan... Go download it now!

“Airmikan is desktop virtual pets of digital comic [mikan seijin gril], which is based on Adobe AIR. This Airmikan is selfish so you need to look after carefully. It will die or become so big and your computer will be running slow. You need to watch out!”

It’s nice to see that there is a conceptual model with AIR that far out weighs creating the same experience in the browser. They are utilizing a transparent window (multiple actually) that seems to be a key feature in defining this experience.

This is a really cute experience. I had a similar idea for a “digital organism”. That as you hunt for content and consume content the “digital organism” then reflects this as a healthy activity and the end user is rewarded with a healthy “digital organism”.

Gorillaz Holographic Projection

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Ever wonder how they did that at the MTV Music Awards? Here is a short excerpt from Musion Systems Ltd, the company that invented the technology:

“The MTV Europe Awards marked the first live performance of Gorillaz. The Musion® Eyeliner™ System was used to beam the three-dimensional holographic performing cartoon characters on stage. Their appearance at the 2005 MTV Awards was billed as the ‘world’s first 3D hologram performance’ and was one of the highlights of the evening.

As the world’s most successful “virtual band”,the human artists behind Gorillaz traditionally appear at live gigs as silhouettes on a giant screen combined with images of their cartoon alter egos. However, with the help of Musion® Systems, they were able to perform in full holographic glory.”

NYT Reader RIA

It’s such an interesting time in the online space. Specifically in the RIA space. Especially now that Microsoft has weighed in. It seems as though Microsoft and the New York Times have developed another way to consume the news. Take a look.
