Michael Young has always been an inspiration to me (since Baltimore). Another great piece.

This seems like a great product. I will be signing up for their service to check it out. But at first glance, I really love the interaction model for editing and manipulating content directly. The overall design of the experience has been executed with such detail and finesse. Well done!

Thought I would share some tasty animated infographics.

MUTO

I was sent this link by a good friend of mine, Woody Ranere. When I lived in Baltimore we would frequent The Brewer’s Art and enjoy many delicious Resurrections and discuss random ideas (some of which I would still love to pursue). One idea we always chatted about (after our 2ndish Resurrection) was a physical installment that would become part of a cities identity.

Now this video has nothing to do with our idea, but it shows an enormous amount of dedication and talent that is well executed. I really love seeing work that is superbly executed and introduces a new interaction pattern. Kudos! I will try and use this idea in my work.

Lineup

Thought I would pass along that the Exchange Calendar Viewer that I designed for Christian Cantrell has been posted. You can read more about it here. OR you can watch a video that Christian put together. It’s a bit rough around the edges (a.k.a the ‘Detail View’). That said… it should provide a good basis for people to learn from and extend. Either way go check it out.

The complete source code for Lineup itself is also available on Google Code, or you can simply click on the badge below to install it.

DiRTy Interface

It’s not very often that I am surprised/impressed by video game menus. For the most part game menus are usually a forgotten element, unless they’re bad (and no… bad doesn’t mean rad). Except in this case. Dirt’s menus are a breath of fresh air. The initial animation is not just eye candy, it provides users context into the plethora of options available to them. The key to the success of this type of 3D menu system, in my humble opinion, is in it’s ability to provide the user with ’situation awareness’.

If anyone knows the designer(s) responsible for this menu system, I would love to know.

Alright… thats enough small talk. Take a gander for yourself.
